چکیده

Existing multicast group management solutions fall short of providing adequate support for secure group integrity maintenance. This is especially true in the multimedia context, where, on top of intra-group integrity, intergroup (i.e. inter-media) considerations have to be taken into account. We demonstrate, along a comprehensive example, the applicability of our integrity framework for multicast groups, which includes integrity conditions imposed on groups describing valid group states and state transitions as well as action and transition policies for maintaining integrity. Related security issues are analyzed and discussed for data and control plane.

A Novel Group Integrity Concept for Multimedia Multicasting

Multimedia multicasting brings together two technologies considered to be cornerstones of the future Internet, where rich media content will be distributed to a mass audience. It is obvious that unicasting will not be adequate for such content distribution due to the unacceptable stress imposed on network resources. Multicasting is a solution to this problem, and thus multicast routing and grou...

A Framework for Group Integrity Management in Multimedia Multicasting

Multicast research has so far been focused on routing and network-level group management. Conditions on the composition of multicast groups have however been kept simple, with little efforts to specify requirements in terms of membership, member roles and group organization. Integrity conditions on multicast groups have been largely neglected despite the fact that it is often desirable to expre...

Multi-layer key management for secure multimedia multicast communications

An important application of multicasting is group-oriented multimedia communication, such as video-on-demand and video conferencing. Before these services can be successfully deployed, security infrastructures must be developed to ensure access control to multicast content. In this paper, we present a multi-group key management scheme tailored to multimedia multicast services that distribute da...

Qos Enabled Communication Support over Multicast Ad Hoc Networks: An Overview

Multicasting Routing in Mobile Ad hoc networks faces various issues related to Quality of Services (QoS) which suffer from behavior of routing protocols, topology, group management, security and group mobility. QoS constraints can be categorized by their application domains also i.e. for military, we need to maintain QoS for confidentiality and data integrity by compromising with control overhe...

GCAP: A New Multimedia Multicast Architecture for QoS

Despite its obvious suitability for distributed multimedia applications, multicasting has not yet found widespread application. Having analyzed shortcomings of today's approaches, we devise in the GCAP project a new endto-end transport architecture for multimedia multicasting that supports partial order and partial reliability. In this paper, we argue that, at the network layer, single-source m...
